The Harvard Lampoon

142 years after its founding, The Harvard Lampoon remains as relevant as ever, the alums are considered to be the wellspring of so much comedy in America today. It has stayed true to its roots, poking fun at the powerful.

What follows are various communications to the Lampoon Alumni.

The alumni are updated all through each year by events, an annual report, and campaigns to raise funds for the upkeep and restoration of The Castle.

Each spread topic was illustrated by reclaimed images gleaned from past Harvard Lampoon issues.

Graphics helped the reader stop and spend time reading the content.

Each inside cover spread showed the table of contents. It was an opportunity to showcase archival photography or illustrations.

Each era was reflected in the style of its group portrait.

The Lampoon Castle needed a new roof. This table of contents theme was focused on rain.

Sometimes two or three independent images were arranged together to celebrate success.

Even when the message was a bit dry the illustrations stopped and engaged the viewer enticing them to read.

The Annual Reports focused on giving and those that gave were celebrated.

The needs of the Castle were often specific as this Castle Restoration spread represents.

Recognition was often the reward for giving to the Capital Campaign.

Humor was the common denominator of every spread.

Most images until recent years were in black and white. The photoshopped color was added.

The Jester was and still is a common Lampoon character.

Many times illustration styles were mixed together that somehow worked together.

Endowments are key to the longevity of the castle. Attention is always paid to this section.

Each back cover was as important as the cover. Here is a Michael Frith illustration, one of my go-to Alum artists' work is shown.

This back cover is from one of the digitized poster backs. it was an amusing way to end this annual report.

A book was created highlighting the humor of Lampoon women over the past 50 years.
